Charlie Huston

Labai lengva suskirstyti vampyriškos literatūros pobūdį pagal autoriaus lytį. Moteriškės visada preferuos dailią puošnią praeitį arba bent pagražintą dabartį, o vyriškiai visada futurizuos, negalėdami atsikratyti potraukio fantastikai. Taip yra ir su Charlie Huston.

Ką tik jis baigė savo vampyrišką istoriją, susidedančią iš penkių dalių: "Already Dead", "No Dominion", "Half The Blood Of Brooklyn", "Every Last Drop", "My Dead Body".

Jo herojus Joe Pitt dirba detektyvu New Yorko vampyrų klanui. Kartais tenka bendradarbiauti ir su žmonėmis. Autorius puikiai sužaidžia su šalta reglamentuota New Yorko aplinka - ten tikrai gera vieta veistis vampyrams ir zombiams.

Labai įdomūs santykiai Joe su viena moterimi. Ji serga ŽIV ir taip myli Joe, kad nenori jo apkrėsti, todėl jų santykiai abstinentiški. Jis irgi bijo ją užkrėsti vampyrizmu, kuris galbūt keliauja taip pat kaip ŽIV. Labai originali vieta, tiesą pasakius.

Šiaip detektyvas kaip detektyvas. Nieko ypatingo, bet ir nėra prastas. Kas čia gerai, tai autoriaus humoro jausmas, kritiškai nutaikytas į šiuolaikinius vampyrų fanus (kaip aš :D). Keletas citatų:

Beje, pirmoji knyga yra nupirkta ir yra planų statyti filmą. Reik tikėtis, kad planai nežlugs. O tada gal ir "Obuolys" šitą istoriją atveš į Lietuvą :)
